Take 5...6...20?
With the semester already zipping by at a rapid pace, I find myself in a whirlwind of thoughts. How will I incorporate a more constructivist approach while maintaining a balance? Will time be a foe? I strive to keep my courses fresh and interactive. I continue to update my web page, incorporate student ideas into the applications of the course, and look forward to class blogging (optionally) in September. Even with the smaller items, such as discussing course expectations, I focus not simply on the 5Ws but the HOW? as well. Students are a great inspiration and possess a plethora of ideas of what makes a successful learning environment to them. As I listen and observe, I learn from my students. The sum is the total of all parts; the smaller items will add up. I hope!
I believe the quotation noted below is apropos to the process of growth. The quote urges me to keep plugging along. When I added it to one of my course pages, a student remarked on the "coolness" factor followed by sound effects. Hmmm...maybe we are all stretching in our thinking?
"Neither a wise man nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over him." Dwight D. Eisenhower
